I wish I would becoma e a beauty consulant one day. I’m first year round up in beauty training and I struggel a lt on biology and cosmetology. I have a better sense of feeling in commercial relationships and hands on work. But I feel frustrated when doing exams and stuff because I know it’s important to master theory.
I plan to become independent seller for cosmetic brands but i’d like to know if I can do that without having all my units done. One friend of my mum had to buy a starter kit with products from Decleor for about $1000 before she cold start. she received all promo material, boxes, notices, legal papers. it took her two full month to begin making profit but she sold all the material.. so she had to buy a new kit …. teh profits were realy minimum when you cut the car fuel ot go to meetings at prospective clients, time, clothes (!) ans so one..
she does’nt have any qualification in beauty and maybe she looks likeso people cannot really trust her. Anyway, I guess you’ll have to pay for a sales trianing at least to become more confident. there is nothing worse than beginning that kind of job on your own bucks like begging for attention from friends anf family who of course will be your first clients. but when your step mother bought you 2 or boxes of stuff that does not work at all… what can she do for you then? ahah
Well I will follow my path quietly and see what happens next. cheers!
Paulina
That’s rude for sure…
I guess your friend didn’t take the best path to do that. Lot’s of brand, even famous brands rely on local independent sellers that make affiliate selling. Beauty consulting is a bit more that that in fact. In my sense, a beauty advisor that work from home must be independent regarding the brands they recommend because they will be tied with fee structures on the long term.
You must see that job more like and advocate or accountant: you’re a trusted person which people pay for objective advising. Your contacts and affiliations in the beauty industry are a “bonus”.
If you have to work for a brand, it’s better to be an employee beauty consultant, even with a fixed rate and bonuses so that you don’t have to pay from your pocket.
